Former national team players have expressed differing opinions regarding the future of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the fifty-over format after he was left out of the squad for the upcoming five-match series against New Zealand. Cheteshwar Pujara believes the thirty-seven-year-old veteran's omission indicates the conclusion of his career in limited-overs international cricket, noting that Axar Patel has emerged as the primary left-arm spin all-rounder.
Pujara suggested that management may have advised the senior player to concentrate exclusively on Test matches. In contrast, Abhishek Nayar views the experienced athlete as a reliable reserve option who could still be called upon should any fitness issues affect the preferred starter prior to the global tournament next year.
The upcoming series against New Zealand commences on November 4, serving as preparation for the World Cup scheduled across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
