'My name used without permission': Dhawan to take legal action against league

Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has vehemently denied any involvement in the upcoming World T20 Continent Cup, accusing tournament organizers of using his name without authorization. In a direct statement posted on X, Dhawan clarified that his name appeared on participant lists without his knowledge or consent, prompting his legal team to pursue appropriate action.

He urged fans and media to disregard any unauthenticated reports regarding his participation, emphasizing that only official announcements from his team should be considered valid. Dhawan’s career boasts impressive statistics across formats, including 6,793 ODI runs at an average of 44.1, seven Test centuries in 34 matches, and 1,759 T20I runs over 68 appearances.

His intervention comes as confusion surrounds his alleged role in the competition, with Dhawan stressing that no claims about his involvement should be treated as credible unless verified through his representatives.
