Joey Porter Jr. has joined the Dallas Cowboys following a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers that cost the Cowboys a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick.
The cornerback learned of the deal late Wednesday night while at a movie theater, bringing an end to his contract dispute with Pittsburgh. Porter Jr.
expressed that he felt undervalued and disrespected during stalled talks over a long-term extension heading into the final year of his rookie contract. The move also follows a back issue that caused him to miss the first three games of the season, though he stated he is now feeling better.
In Dallas, he intends to prove his worth on a new chapter with his teammates, having already consulted with former Pittsburgh teammates George Pickens and Broderick Jones about the transition.
