Following the conclusion of the 2026 WNBA season where the Golden State Valkyries defeated the Atlanta Dream in Game 7 of the Finals, former NBA player Enes Kanter released a public statement regarding the league. Kanter criticized the current administration and reiterated his controversial decision to declare himself eligible for the 2027 WNBA Draft in protest of the organization's policies concerning transgender athletes.
WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert previously stated in November that Kanter would not be permitted to participate, but the former Boston Celtics athlete maintained in his recent remarks that he intends to pursue the matter further.
