'He knows his role' - Rulli provides heroics but no worries for Donnarumma

Geronimo Rulli demonstrated his penalty-saving prowess once again, proving to be a valuable acquisition for his club. Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed that Rulli understands his position as the backup goalkeeper behind Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was granted a brief period of rest alongside teammates Erling Haaland, Ruben Dias, Elliot Anderson, and Josko Gvardiol.

While Donnarumma has faced criticism for recent errors, Rulli earned praise for his composure and distribution during his latest appearance. The goalkeeper previously gained notoriety for his decisive performance in the 2021 Europa League final, where he scored a spot-kick and saved an attempt from David de Gea.

Rulli arrived at the club to fill the vacancy left by the £45 million transfer of James Trafford to Leeds.
