Bills might have re-unlocked Josh Allen, and that makes Buffalo's offense all the more dangerous

Josh Allen overcame a troubled history at Reliant Stadium to lead Buffalo to a 36-31 season-opening victory against the Texans. The quarterback had previously struggled in Houston, enduring an elbow ailment in 2018, relinquishing a 16-point playoff advantage in 2020, connecting on just nine of 30 attempts two seasons ago, and suffering eight sacks alongside two interceptions during a 23-19 defeat last year.

On Sunday, however, Allen connected on 20 of 29 throws for 334 yards and a pair of scores while also rushing for two touchdowns, ultimately sealing the game with a 34-yard touchdown pass to Joshua Palmer.

2 air yards per throw—surpassing any single-game mark he posted across the 2023, 2024, or 2025 campaigns—and registering a personal-best five completions covering at least 30 yards. Debutant receiver DJ Moore secured five catches for 100 yards and a score while also drawing a 46-yard defensive pass interference flag, and tight end Dalton Kincaid added five receptions for 130 yards to propel the high-scoring effort.
