Taylor entered the matchup carrying a four-game winning streak alongside 1,192 passing yards and 14 touchdowns, backed by a significant 1.5 million dollar NIL valuation.

However, the subsequent contest against Alabama proved difficult as the squad suffered a 56-23 defeat at home.
