Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitches another postseason gem to give Dodgers 2-1 NLDS lead vs. Braves

October 6, 2026

The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves in Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Tuesday night at Truist Park, extending their series lead to 2-1. Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered a dominant postseason performance, pitching seven innings and allowing just one run while striking out 10 Braves batters.

The win marked the Dodgers’ best offensive performance against Braves ace Chris Sale all season, as they capitalized on a strong start to regain momentum after dropping Game 2 at Dodger Stadium.

Yamamoto’s outing was particularly notable for its dominance. The pitcher limited the Braves to one run over seven innings, showcasing his ability to shut down high-powered offenses in critical moments.

His 10 strikeouts underscored his role as the Dodgers’ ace in the postseason. The Dodgers’ offense, meanwhile, came alive with two home runs—one each from Kiké Hernández and Freddie Freeman, who hit his second homer of the NLDS.

Freeman’s power display added to his postseason résumé, while Hernández’s contribution highlighted the Dodgers’ depth in the lineup.

The Dodgers’ win came after a shaky bullpen performance, which had been a concern following their 3-2 loss in Game 2 at home. Despite the late-game struggles, Yamamoto’s strong start provided the foundation for the Dodgers to take the lead in the series.

The Braves, who had stolen home-field advantage with their Game 2 victory, now face the challenge of answering Yamamoto’s performance in a potential Game 4 at Dodger Stadium.

Game 3 was broadcast on FS1, FOX Deportes, and FOX One, with Kenny Albert filling in for the absent Joe Davis as the play-by-play announcer. John Smoltz and Ken Rosenthal joined Albert for the broadcast, providing analysis as the Dodgers extended their postseason lead.

The series now shifts back to Los Angeles, where the Dodgers will look to close out the Braves in Game 4.
