The Yankees’ Arizona Fall League campaign entered its second week with a mixed bag of results for their prospects. After a strong start, the team faced challenges, particularly in pitching and offensive consistency.
On October 9, the Salt River Rafters secured a 13-9 win over the Glendale Desert Dogs, with Core Jackson making his lone appearance, recording a 100 mph single and a stolen base despite three walks. The following day, however, the Rafters fell to the Scorpions 2-10, with Kyle West the only Yankee to play, going hitless in three at-bats.
Pitching struggles were evident, including a rocky outing from Antonio Gomez, who allowed five runners to score before being pulled in the sixth inning. Mack Estrada provided stability in relief, securing the final three outs in the loss.
The Rafters bounced back slightly on October 13, winning 6-5 against the Desert Dogs after a rain delay. Three Yankees participated, with Dax Kilby and Core Jackson each stealing bases, though Kilby went 0-for-4.
Chris Veach made his debut, allowing one run in two innings. The following days proved tougher: a 3-7 loss to the Solar Sox saw Kilby and West go hitless, while Anthony Mena pitched 1.2 innings.
The Rafters nearly pulled off a late comeback on October 15, trailing 8-9 before Gomez’s blown save and a late rally tied the game. The Solar Sox ultimately won 14-9, with Jackson striking out twice in a 0-for-4 night.
