WNBA News: Cheryl Reeve Wins Exec of the Year

October 12, 2026

Cheryl Reeve has made history once again in the WNBA, becoming the first coach and executive to win both Executive of the Year and Coach of the Year in the same season—for the second time in her career. The Minnesota Lynx president of basketball operations and head coach secured the Executive of the Year award for the third time overall, following a season that defied expectations after the team lost six key players in the offseason.

Reeve prioritized retaining core leaders like Napheesa Collier, Kayla McBride, and Courtney Williams while strategically adding affordable veterans such as Natasha Howard, Nia Brodie, and Maya Caldwell-Ellwanger, along with European standout Emma Čechová. Her bold draft pick of Olivia Miles—selected second overall—proved prescient as the season progressed, solidifying her reputation as a forward-thinking leader both on and off the court.

Beyond her on-court success, Reeve has consistently championed inclusivity and advocacy, using her platform to amplify voices for the trans community amid ongoing public challenges. The only other individual to achieve the dual honors was Dallas Wings GM Curt Miller in 2017, but Reeve’s repeat feat cements her status as one of the most dominant figures in WNBA history.

With five Coach of the Year awards and now three Executive of the Year honors, her legacy continues to grow as she balances basketball excellence with unwavering social responsibility.
