Minnesota Wild blueliner Brock Faber faces an indefinite recovery timeline following a surgical procedure to address a skull fracture. The club disclosed on Tuesday that a specific return schedule will be provided at a later date.
The twenty-four-year-old sustained the injury late in the middle period during Friday night's preseason finale when he was struck in the head by a puck shot by Dallas Stars forward Sam Steel. Faber logged heavy minutes last season, ranking ninth across the entire league in total ice time, and is anticipated to slot back in alongside Quinn Hughes upon his eventual clearance.
He also contributed significantly to the United States roster that captured the nation's first men's ice hockey gold medal since 1980. The regular season gets underway for Minnesota on Thursday when the team travels to play in Nashville.
