Why Pat McAfee Says he Hates Utah After College GameDay Visit

Pat McAfee expressed strong animosity toward the University of Utah following ESPN College GameDay's broadcast ahead of the team's matchup against Houston. McAfee picked Houston to win and vowed to do so repeatedly, leading to friction with local supporters and a parting comment wishing he would never return.

Tensions escalated further when the university shared a social media post featuring student criticism, which made the commentator feel deeply uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Despite the friction, the Utes secured a 21-13 victory over Houston on Saturday. The visit also followed a previous weekend appearance in Provo involving BYU and Notre Dame, where McAfee handed out substantial prize money during a kicking contest compared to questions raised about payouts in Salt Lake City.

In response to the backlash, Utah Athletics issued a formal apology on Monday acknowledging that their social media content missed the mark and reaffirming that the crew remains welcome on campus.
