Bangladesh’s white-ball captain Litton Das will miss the upcoming ODI tri-series against Zimbabwe and the UAE after being sidelined by a hip injury. The 104-match ODI veteran was ruled out following an MRI scan that revealed underlying issues, despite attempting a fitness test that fell short of team standards.
His absence leaves the Tigers without their most experienced leader just months after he was appointed full-time ODI captain in July, marking a significant blow ahead of the series opener in Abu Dhabi.
Towhid Hridoy will take over as stand-in skipper in Das’s place, while Bangladesh also faces the loss of all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who is battling a persistent fever. The team’s physio, Bayezid Islam Khan, confirmed Das’s injury status, noting that the right hip issue required immediate attention and ruled him out of competition for the time being.
