The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has restructured its senior selection process by integrating VVS Laxman, the head of the Centre of Excellence (COE), into all future selection committee meetings. This decision follows concerns over communication gaps between selectors and the COE, particularly regarding player injuries and recovery timelines.
Laxman’s inclusion aims to ensure selectors receive real-time updates and accurate information, addressing past issues where key decisions were made without full context. The move comes after Ajit Agarkar stepped down as chairman of the selection panel, with Pragyan Ojha now serving as interim chairman.
The BCCI’s decision was confirmed by Secretary Devajit Saikia during a review meeting in Mumbai, emphasizing the need for transparency and informed decision-making in team selections.
