The Melbourne Renegades have secured New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell for the 2026-27 Big Bash League season, marking their second overseas signing after Jonny Bairstow. Bracewell, 35, will join the team on a full-season contract, beginning December 12, 2026, after opting out of New Zealand Cricket’s central contract to commit to the franchise.
Known for his explosive batting and smart off-spin bowling, Bracewell has amassed over 3,600 T20 runs at a strike rate above 135 and more than 100 wickets in franchise cricket, including a career-best unbeaten 141 for Wellington in the 2022 Super Smash. His leadership experience as New Zealand’s ODI and T20I captain further strengthens the Renegades’ squad under coach Luke Ronchi, who praised his versatility and global experience as a key addition to their contracted group alongside Jake Fraser-McGurk and Will Sutherland.
