Ahead of their three-match T20I contest against Afghanistan in Delhi, members of the Indian men's cricket team participated in a viral online craze that transforms modern photographs into 1980s-themed portraits using ChatGPT. As shown in footage posted to X by the BCCI, the squad arrived for an official pre-series photo shoot at their hotel conference room, only to discover a table displaying artificial-intelligence-generated images of themselves clad in retro attire, classic denim, pastel jackets, and period hairstyles.

The surprise prompted widespread amusement among the players as they attempted to identify one another, with Axar Patel especially overcome by laughter as he shared the prints with colleagues. Jasprit joked about who wore the style best, Sanju , Washington Sundar, and Shivam Dube chuckled at their altered appearances, enthusiastically posed while holding up his frame, and the typically reserved Vaibhav reacted with an amused grin.
