Colorado head coach Deion Sanders announced that transfer quarterback Isaac Wilson will start for the Buffaloes in their matchup against the 11th-ranked Utah Utes on Saturday. Wilson, who previously played for Utah, took over the starting role after former five-star quarterback Julian Lewis was benched at Baylor.
In his time with the Utes, Wilson started seven games in 2024, throwing for 156 yards and a touchdown in a recent outing against Baylor, though his performance against Texas Tech was less impressive, finishing with 290 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions in a 29-7 loss. Sanders, now in his fourth season with Colorado, faces a challenging task as the Buffaloes sit at 2-3 on the season, matching his worst start in Boulder.
Wilson, the younger brother of New Orleans Saints quarterback Zach Wilson, brings a strong high school resume to the role, including a standout junior season at Corner Canyon High with 3,774 passing yards and 45 total touchdowns (40 passing, 5 rushing) in 2022. The game will be played on October 17, with kickoff scheduled for 10:15 p.m.
