The University of North Carolina football program suffered a setback Monday when highly regarded recruit Aidan Jensen withdrew his commitment to the Tar Heels. Jensen, a member of the class of 2027, was one of the program’s top targets entering his senior year of high school eligibility.
The loss comes just days after head coach Bill Belichick led UNC to a hard-fought 24–20 victory over rival Duke, marking his first win total matching his 2025 season. Despite the recent on-field success, the recruiting setback adds uncertainty to an already evolving coaching era for Belichick, who transitioned from NFL stardom to college football after decades of Super Bowl victories with the New England Patriots.
The Tar Heels’ football program also remains unranked heading into the 2026–27 season, with coaches and analysts still assessing the team’s trajectory following a mixed Week 7 performance against Duke.
