The UFC has terminated the contract of Brazilian lightweight **Ismael Bonfim** following a disastrous performance at UFC Vegas 122, where he missed weight by 7.5 pounds and suffered a first-round knockout loss to Francisco Prado. Weighing in at 163.5 pounds for a 156-pound limit bout, Bonfim forfeited 25% of his purse and was dropped to a 2-5 record, marking his fourth consecutive stoppage defeat.
This was not his first weight-related issue in the promotion, as he had previously missed weight before a 2025 loss to Chris Padilla and canceled a 2023 fight against Vinc Pichel due to excess weight. Bonfim, who joined the UFC after impressing on Dana White’s Contender Series with a flying-knee knockout in his promotional debut, addressed the loss on social media before his release, emphasizing resilience despite the setback.
His younger brother, Gabriel Bonfim, remains active in the organization as a ranked welterweight, set to face Sean Brady next month.
