Mexican MMA star **Lucero Acosta**, known as *La Loba*, is making her highly anticipated debut in the Professional Fighters League (PFL) this Friday, marking her first fight outside her troubled tenure with Combate Global. Acosta, who signed with the promotion in 2019, revealed in May that her contract had ended amid frustration over inactivity and exclusivity restrictions that prevented her from competing elsewhere.
Despite being one of Combate’s biggest names, she only fought once in two and a half years under the banner, with her last bout coming in early 2024. Acosta’s exit followed a pattern of instability at Combate, which saw prolonged event cancellations—including a 10-month stretch without shows in 2024–2025—before briefly resuming activity in early 2026.
The promotion has since canceled nine more events, with its next scheduled return on October 22. Acosta’s move to the PFL, where she faces Shannon Clark in Chicago, underscores the broader struggles of fighters caught in Combate’s inconsistent operational cycles.
