Mumbai fast bowler Tushar Deshpande has set his sights on breaking into the India Test squad following an impressive start to the domestic campaign. During his team's massive opening victory over Chandigarh in the Ranji Trophy, the pacer claimed a total of seven wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings and two more scalps in the second.
Operating at speeds exceeding 140 kmph and mixing in deceptive bouncers, Deshpande dismantled batters like Manan Vohra.
Speaking to RevSportz, the thirty-one-year-old expressed confidence in his current readiness for the national team and explained that he has focused on upgrading his pace and overall confidence through his regular practice routines. To model his desired style on the pitch, he studies footage of former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn, hoping to replicate the ability to generate movement at high velocity.
With selectors actively monitoring backup seam options such as Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Anshul Kamboj, and Auqib Nabi, Deshpande aims to maintain his wicket-taking form to secure a chance in the senior setup.
