To knock off Fresno State in Pac-12 opener, WSU must take care of the ball

Washington State prepares for its inaugural Pac-12 fixture in nearly three years by hosting Fresno State on Saturday evening. Head coach Kirby Moore faces the challenge of protecting his young quarterback, Caden Pinnick, from losing confidence while cutting down on early-season miscues, as the Bulldogs boast one of the nation's most opportunistic defenses.

The Cougars' offensive depth remains uncertain for the upcoming matchup, with running back Kirby Vorhees listed as a gametime decision due to an upper-body injury and tight end Trey Leckner potentially making his debut after recovering from a foot injury.
