Titleist’s latest iteration of its flagship Pro V1 golf ball made its debut on the PGA Tour this week, with early adopters already sharing their impressions. The 2027 model arrived at the Baycurrent Classic, where it quickly gained traction among top players, including Neal Shipley, who finished tied for third and led after 54 holes.
Shipley, previously a Pro V1x Double Dot user, has since posted back-to-back top-10 finishes since switching to the new ball, hinting at a potential performance boost. Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth confirmed his transition to the 2027 Pro V1, marking a rare mid-season shift for the three-time major champion.
Spieth’s move follows his earlier experiment with the Pro V1x Left Dash, which he adopted to address rising spin rates in his irons before ultimately returning to the Pro V1 for the U.S. Open.
The new balls also made an appearance in Japan, where 12 players tested them on-site, with Titleist keeping details of the upgrades under wraps. Despite the secrecy, the 2027 Pro V1 became the most-used ball in the 72-player field at the event, signaling strong early interest from the tour’s elite.
