The Korn Ferry Tour Championship in Virginia will hand out 20 PGA Tour cards on Sunday, with seven spots still up for grabs. Among the 13 players already securing their 2026 PGA Tour status, Alistair Docherty marks a particularly emotional milestone.
After years of near-misses—including finishing two spots short of a card two years ago and narrowly falling short in PGA Tour Q-School—Docherty finally earned his spot last month. His 2023 season included a second-place finish in the Bahamas, a victory at the Argentina Open (which earned him a spot at the Open Championship, where he missed the cut), and another runner-up at the Pinnacle Bank Championship.
Docherty, now 32, reflected on his journey, admitting past frustration over close calls but emphasizing growth and resilience. With his card secured, he admitted to easing off slightly in his final events, savoring the relief of no longer needing to chase a spot on the PGA Tour.
