The Hockey News Sunday Recap: Columbus Blue Jackets

Adam Fantilli has emerged as a dominant force in the faceoff circle for Columbus, winning 80 percent of his draws in the season opener followed by a 75 percent success rate against Utah. Head coach Rick Bowness confirmed that defenseman Damon Severson is cleared to return for the upcoming weekend road trip against Pittsburgh and St.

Louis. Meanwhile, the organization has placed Mikael Pyyhtiä on waivers with the intent of sending him to the Cleveland Monsters.

Despite persistent trade rumors, forward Kent Johnson remains a key part of the roster, contributing two points and six shots on goal through his first two appearances. The team also benefits from a favorable early-season schedule that includes a five-day gap between their third and fourth games.

Elsewhere, former Blue Jackets players are making an impact elsewhere, as Kirill Marchenko netted his first goal for Toronto against Ottawa, and Oliver Bjorkstrand tallied two goals for the Rangers, including the game-winner.
