The Washington Commanders extended their early lead to 12-3 at halftime after a strong first half in their matchup against the New York Giants. The Giants' offense struggled to gain traction, managing just 70 total yards while starting quarterback Jameis Winston completed only 7 of 16 passes for 72 yards.
Winston also lost a fumble on a sack by K'Lavon Chaisson, which Washington recovered for a touchdown play. The Giants' limited ground game was further highlighted by their inability to sustain drives, while Washington’s Jacory Croskey-Merritt dominated early with seven carries for 50 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown on the Commanders' first possession.
The Giants briefly turned to J.J. McCarthy for one play—a pop pass that resulted in a five-yard loss—but a facemask penalty erased the setback.
Meanwhile, Washington’s Drew Stevens added to the lead with a 34-yard field goal, his second of the half, as the Giants’ offense continued to falter in wet conditions.
