The gravel specialist gets it – A surprise win for Magnus Bak Klaris breaks domination of road pros on top step of Gravel World Championships podium

Magnus Bak Klaris secured an unexpected victory at the UCI Gravel World Championships, breaking the winning streak of road professionals at the event. Navigating the closing stages in a lead group of four, the Danish competitor outmanoeuvred rivals including Connor Swift and Florian Vermeersch after compatriot Mads Würtz Schmidt crashed with just over three kilometres remaining.

Bak Klaris, who funded his own trip to Australia and covered his expenses independently, acknowledged that he initially only hoped for a podium finish before capturing the rainbow jersey.
