Legendary NFL figure Mike Ditka has passed away at the age of 86. Known for his dual impact as both a player and a coach, Ditka became the first tight end inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
His playing career included a Super Bowl VI victory with the Dallas Cowboys in 1972, where he was selected fifth overall in the 1961 NFL Draft. Later, Ditka transitioned into coaching, leading the Chicago Bears to their only Super Bowl title in franchise history—Super Bowl XX in 1986—after taking over as head coach in 1982.
His family released a statement acknowledging his loss, emphasizing his role as a beloved husband, father, and grandfather beyond his football legacy. Ditka’s career also included stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys as a player, cementing his status as one of the most iconic figures in NFL history.
