Somerset and Nottinghamshire title hopes hit by defeats: County Championship cricket, day four – as it happened

Title contenders Somerset and Nottinghamshire both suffered setbacks in the County Championship, falling to Yorkshire and Sussex in results that significantly aid Warwickshire's championship aspirations. At Headingley, Somerset slumped to 76 for four as Ben Cliff claimed his ninth wicket of the match by having Tom Lammonby caught behind off an outside edge, leaving James Rew to face testing conditions in front of national selector Stephen Fleming, who was visiting the ground.

Meanwhile, Ari Karvelas continued an impressive spell for Sussex, having Brett Hutton sharply caught at slip to reduce Nottinghamshire to eight wickets down with an advantage of merely 32 runs. Elsewhere across the competition, Hamza Shaikh was among the dismissals at Grace Road.
