Max Verstappen secured his 73rd Formula 1 victory in Singapore, finally breaking through after nine previous attempts at the Marina Bay circuit. The Dutch driver claimed his first pole position here and dominated the race from start to finish, leading every lap en route to his maiden win.
Though he missed out on a grand slam by not setting the fastest lap, Verstappen now stands just one triumph away from completing a full set of wins across the calendar—though the 2026 schedule will require victories at three new tracks to achieve that milestone. His 27 different winning circuits are second only to Lewis Hamilton’s 31, and he became the fifth driver to reach 50 pole positions in his 250th race start, joining legends like Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.
Meanwhile, Verstappen’s pursuit of a clean sweep mirrors Hamilton’s historic 2018 achievement, though the expanded 2026 calendar adds extra challenges for both drivers.
This win also marked the fourth consecutive Singapore Grand Prix decided from pole position, underscoring Verstappen’s consistency at the track. With two returning circuits from 2027 already on his list of unfinished wins, the pressure is on for next season.
Hamilton, the last driver to complete a full set, last did so in 2018, but his streak ended at Zandvoort in 2021. Verstappen’s relentless pace suggests he may soon join the exclusive club of drivers with a flawless record across the calendar—if the conditions align.
