Shubman Gill’s 223: When beauty met responsibility in India’s record chase vs West Indies

Shubman Gill delivered a historic performance by scoring an unbeaten 223 runs off 133 deliveries, marking his second career ODI double century and leading India to their highest successful run chase ever. Facing a formidable target of 406 against the West Indies with the series on the line, Gill paced his innings masterfully through 43.3 overs of the chase after spending 50 overs on the field.

His remarkable knock featured aggressive yet controlled strokeplay against bowlers such as Alzarri Joseph, Roston Chase, and Keemo Paul, while mirroring the match-winning responsibility previously demonstrated by Virat Kohli. This achievement made Gill only the second batter in history to record multiple double centuries in one-day internationals.
