
Shreyas Iyer led India to an eight-wicket victory over the West Indies in the opening T20I of their five-match series. Chasing a target of 172, Iyer scored an unbeaten 102 from 43 balls, sharing a match-winning 137-run partnership with Ishan Kishan, who contributed 37.
India successfully reached the target in 14.4 overs.
Earlier, debutant Naman Dhir spearheaded the Indian bowling attack with figures of 3/31, helping to dismiss the visitors for 171. Despite half-centuries from Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford, the West Indies batting lineup faltered against the spin of Dhir, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.
The result marks India's 21st win against the West Indies in 32 T20I encounters.
