Although initial rumors blamed injuries from a recent ATV accident for his removal from the scheduled bout against Nassourdine Imavov, the champion indicated that compensation talks were the actual hurdle.

Consequently, the promotion opted to feature Charles Oliveira against Diego Lopes for the BMF belt as the headline attraction, alongside an agreement for Alex Pereira to meet Sergei Pavlovich in a heavyweight co-feature.
