World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler took a moment away from his elite status to make a lasting impression on a young competitor during a casual round at his hometown club.
While playing at Royal Oaks Country Club—a place where he honed his skills as a junior—Scheffler joined a relaxed group that included fellow golfer Colt Knost and his manager, Blake Smith. As they neared the 18th tee, Scheffler spotted five junior golfers practicing on the range, including one who had recently won a club championship.
Without hesitation, Scheffler walked over, exchanged a high-five and a hug with the young champion, and congratulated him on his victory, sparking awe among the other kids and Knost, who later called it one of the most meaningful moments he’s witnessed in golf. The unscripted gesture underscored Scheffler’s down-to-earth nature, especially in a setting far removed from the pressures of major tournaments.
