Saints’ slow starts could become a problem if they continue

New Orleans began the 2026 campaign with an agonizing 31-30 overtime defeat against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on September 13. After falling into an early 21-point deficit, the Saints mounted an extraordinary rally ignited by Kendre Miller, who registered the team's opening touchdown of the year.

However, the comeback effort was thwarted by key moments, including an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt and an overturned ruling that negated a Chase Young strip-sack and defensive touchdown.

Following the one-point setback, head coach Kellen Moore addressed the controversial officiating reversal and assessed Tyler Shough's play. Despite the unpolished performance in Week 1, Moore defended his decision to limit starters' snaps during exhibition play and praised his squad's resilience.

Now sitting at 0-1, New Orleans prepares to travel for an upcoming matchup against the 1-0 Baltimore Ravens.
