Ryan Palmer, now 50 years old, is making his debut on the PGA Tour Champions this week at the Furyk & Friends tournament in Palm Coast, Florida. The event, hosted by Jim Furyk, marks a new chapter for Palmer, who won four times on the PGA Tour between 2004 and 2019, including a victory just miles from this week’s Ocean Course at Hammock Beach.
Palmer, a native Texan, is focusing on refining his short-game skills, particularly his wedge and putting, to adapt to the shorter courses typical of the Champions Tour. With two more tournaments before the playoffs, he aims to secure a win and a strong finish to potentially qualify for the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs, though he remains content to use these weeks as preparation for his first full season next year.
Palmer’s experience and competitive edge set him apart from many newcomers to the 50-and-over circuit, as he maintained full-time status on the PGA Tour until 2025.
