Following a Monday roster shuffle, the New England Patriots shifted twenty-six-year-old wide receiver Romeo Doubs to injured reserve, keeping him sidelined for a minimum of four matchups. During Sunday's twenty-six to nineteen victory against the New York Jets, Doubs suffered a shoulder injury when landing hard after securing a forty-two-yard touchdown reception on the offensive unit's second play, prompting his early departure from the field.
According to insights shared by ESPN analyst Jeremy Fowler, the organization does not anticipate an extended absence for the pass-catcher, with expectations pointing toward a potential comeback following the team's Week 11 bye.
Because of league regulations, Doubs cannot resume practice until after New England completes its Week 10 contest against the Detroit Lions, a matchup preceding a trip to Germany. This schedule provides him an extra week of recovery prior to a Week 12 meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers.
The active roster currently features four remaining wide receivers including A.J. Brown, DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams, and Efton Chism, while Mack Hollins remains on injured reserve with a calf problem dating back to Week 5 though he becomes eligible for practice and the fifty-three-man squad in Week 9.
Meanwhile, the Patriots head to Chicago to prepare for a Thursday Night Football showdown against the Bears.
