Roman Anthony will miss remainder of AL Wild Card Series due to hand and wrist injuries

Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony will sit out the rest of the AL Wild Card series due to newly discovered muscle strains in his wrist and a recurrence of previous hand issues. Manager Chad Tracy confirmed that medical evaluations back in Boston revealed the extent of the damage following the team's opening loss to the New York Yankees.

Anthony exited the initial playoff matchup after serving as the designated hitter and leading off, prompting roster adjustments. Jahmai Jones will take over the leadoff duties and designated hitter role for the subsequent game as Boston attempts to avoid elimination.
