Novak Djokovic’s historic 2015 season, which included three Grand Slam titles, six ATP Masters 1000 wins, and a 93% win rate, was momentarily disrupted by an unexpected victory from Roger Federer at the ATP Finals. Djokovic entered the tournament on a 23-match winning streak, having just won four consecutive titles, but Federer ended that streak with a straight-sets win (7-5, 6-2) in their round-robin matchup.
The Swiss star had already defeated Djokovic twice earlier that year in Dubai and Cincinnati, but this victory stood out due to Djokovic’s dominance throughout the season. Federer admitted afterward that he hadn’t anticipated winning, citing Djokovic’s strong indoor performance and recent form.
Despite the shock result, Djokovic would go on to defeat Federer in the ATP Finals title match (6-3, 6-4) just days later, closing out a remarkable year for the Serb.
