Richard Carapaz, the 33-year-old Ecuadorian climber, has ended his contract with EF Education-EasyPost early to join NSN Cycling Team on a three-year deal starting in 2027. Carapaz, a former Giro d'Italia winner and Olympic champion, will serve as a Grand Tour general classification leader for NSN, bringing a wealth of experience and a proven track record.
His 2026 season included two Tour de France stage victories, the polka dot jersey for best climber, and a podium finish in the Vuelta a España. The move marks NSN’s seventh confirmed signing for the upcoming season, with Carapaz’s UCI points in 2026 surpassing those of the team’s current top-ranked rider, Biniam Girmay, by more than double.
Carapaz expressed excitement about the opportunity, calling it a chance to lead a team with ambitious growth plans and a shared vision for success. NSN’s General Manager, Kjell Carlström, praised Carapaz’s championship pedigree and relentless mentality, framing his signing as a pivotal step in the team’s development.
