The Republic of Ireland secured their initial victory in the current Nations League Group B3 schedule by defeating Israel during a fixture staged in Hungary. Following an earlier setback against Kosovo, the Irish squad established control early in the contest by netting three unanswered goals before halftime.
Troy Parrott opened the scoring in the fourteenth minute from a setup by James Abankwah, quickly followed by Adam Idah converting a pass from Jack Moylan. Moylan then added a third strike himself prior to the half-hour mark to cap the decisive burst.
Prior to kickoff, the players declined the traditional pre-match handshake while lowering their heads during the opposing national anthem. Throughout the second half, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher protected the advantage by stopping attempts from Anan Khalaili, Dor Peretz, and Eliel Peretz.
Daniel Peretz prevented further damage by turning away an effort from Idah, but the early scoring margin proved sufficient to see the visitors safely through. Heimir Hallgrimsson's squad will next travel to meet Austria in Dublin, while Israel prepares to host Kosovo at the same venue.
