Dallas has acquired cornerback Joey Porter Jr. from Pittsburgh, accepting the risk that the defensive back might continue his contract hold-in.
According to ESPN reporter Todd Archer, the deal includes a safeguard involving a 2027 sixth-round draft choice that depends on Porter appearing in uniform for a minimum of two contests. While the 2028 second-round asset lacks this specific clause, the organization stands to receive a 2028 third-round compensatory selection should the player depart in free agency next March.
Porter is expected to meet the roster requirement immediately by playing in Sunday's matchup against Houston, assuming his current conditioning and back concerns subside. Should those physical hurdles persist and keep him sidelined, the franchise retains the 2027 sixth-round selection.
