Red Sox vs. Yankees live updates, news, starting pitchers for Game 2: Sonny Gray, Max Fried take the mound Wednesday

The New York Yankees return to their home stadium for the second matchup of the American League wild-card round holding a one-game advantage in the series after a dominant nine-to-zero shutout victory the previous evening. Facing a must-win situation to avoid elimination, Boston is handing the ball to right-handed starting pitcher Sonny Gray, who finished the regular season at the top of the major leagues with eighteen victories alongside five losses and a two-point-seven-two earned run average.

New York counters with Max Fried on the mound, who looks to match the stellar work from Cam Schlittler in the opening contest where the pitcher racked up ten strikeouts and surrendered only two hits through six and a third shutout frames. Broadcast coverage for Wednesday evening's clash in the Bronx gets underway at eight o'clock eastern time on NBC and Peacock.
