Qinwen Zheng speaks after winning the China Open title in front of her home crowd, ‘it’s one of my dreams’

Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen secured her first WTA 1000 title by defeating Mirra Andreeva in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4. This victory marks the first time a Chinese player has won the individual women's trophy at this tournament since it was established in 2004.

Following the final point, an emotional Zheng celebrated her achievement on the court.

To reach the championship match, Zheng overcame Elise Mertens in the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-2 performance. Andreeva earned her spot in the final after prevailing against Nikola Bartunkova in her own semifinal contest.
