Post-game analysis: Seahawks fight back vs. Broncos just to give the game away… again

The Seattle Seahawks' defense carried them to overtime in a 17-14 loss to the Denver Broncos, but their offense once again proved to be their undoing. Seattle’s unit stifled Denver for much of the game, forcing three straight three-and-outs in the final stretch and holding the Broncos to just 30 yards in a half at one point.

However, the Seahawks’ inability to sustain drives and their tendency to turn the ball over—including two costly interceptions by quarterback Sam Darnold in overtime—ultimately sealed their fate. The offense remained stagnant for most of the game, with the only bright spot coming from wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who continued to be the primary target despite defensive focus.

Tight ends also failed to make an impact, while the offensive line struggled again, leaving Darnold under constant pressure and the run game nonexistent. The loss drops Seattle to .500 at 3-3, matching their loss total from last season, and raises further questions about the team’s direction under head coach Mike Macdonald, particularly regarding Darnold’s future role.

Kicker Jason Myers also missed a field goal that could have extended the game, highlighting another area needing attention this offseason.
