ESPN’s Pat McAfee is expanding his innovative *Field Pass* broadcast format to the NFL, including a groundbreaking appearance at Super Bowl 2027. The show, which debuted during the 2024-25 College Football Playoff semifinals and drew an average of 2.4 million viewers for its Rose Bowl coverage, will now feature select *Monday Night Football* games—starting with the Commanders at the 49ers on October 19—before taking center stage at the NFL championship on February 14 at SoFi Stadium.
McAfee, a former Colts punter and current *College GameDay* analyst, will be joined by ex-NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky for the NFL broadcasts, while former linebacker A.J. Hawk will continue his role in the college version.
The format places commentators on the field itself, offering real-time reactions and analysis in a fresh alternative to traditional booth coverage. Super Bowl 2027 will also mark ESPN’s first production of the NFL title game since securing league rights, alongside the traditional broadcast led by Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, and a separate *ManningCast* featuring Peyton and Eli Manning.
