Pakistan secured a historic spot in the gold medal match of the men's cricket tournament at the Asian Games by defeating Bangladesh by four wickets in their semifinal clash. The contest was shortened to thirteen overs per side because of a damp outfield, with Bangladesh setting a target of 112 runs after posting 111 for seven.
Towhid Hridoy led the batting effort for Bangladesh with a 42-run knock before Pakistan successfully chased down the total in eleven point three overs. Hasan Nawaz and Abdul Samad guided the successful run chase through an unbroken partnership after an early collapse left the side struggling at 53 for four.
