Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson suffered a chest injury during a Week 8 Thursday Night Football game against the Carolina Panthers. After hauling in a 53-yard pass from Jordan Love in the second quarter, Watson hit the ground hard and was treated by the team's medical staff.
Following an evaluation in a medical tent and a trip to the locker room, he was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for precautionary checks. Watson later admitted to Kaylee Hartung that he was reluctant to leave the stadium because he felt better once he could breathe again, but medical staff noted signs that required a hospital visit, including some initial blood spitting.
Doctors cleared him of any internal bleeding or other serious concerns, allowing him to return to Lambeau Field by ambulance early in the second half. He entered the game during the third quarter to cheers from the crowd, which he described as a surreal experience.
Although he missed his first target from Love upon returning, Watson finished the game with two receptions in the second half as the Packers won 27-19.
