The Los Angeles Rams’ playoff aspirations took another hit Sunday after a 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, a team ranked among the league’s worst. The Rams, already at 2-4, struggled against a Cardinals offense led by quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who orchestrated six scoring drives despite playing against a defense missing its star, Myles Garrett.
Special teams proved costly once again, as the Rams surrendered another pivotal kick return, while new kicker Blake Grupe suffered a knee injury during a tackle attempt mid-game. The injury forced the Rams into a risky two-point conversion attempt in the first half, where quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered a brutal blindside hit from Arizona’s Josh Sweat—only to see the play fail, extending the Rams’ streak of missed two-point conversions since 2023.
Beyond the turnovers and penalties, the offense moved sluggishly against a Cardinals defense that, despite its struggles, held its own under former Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur. With a schedule that could still favor them, the Rams have a chance to rebound, but their recent performances raise questions about whether they can reclaim their early-season dominance—or if they’re already on the brink of a disappointing season.
