Niki Prasad creates world record with two wickets in first 2 T20I balls

October 19, 2026

India Women’s off-spinner Niki Prasad made history in the second T20I against Zimbabwe on October 18, 2026, by becoming the first Indian player—male or female—to claim two wickets off the first two balls of her international career. Bowling in Raipur, Prasad dismissed Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano on the very first delivery, caught by wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh, before trapping Nyasha Gwanzura leg before wicket on the second ball.

Her explosive start contributed to a dominant Indian performance, as she finished with figures of 2/7 in two overs, helping her team secure a nine-wicket victory and sweep the three-match series 2-0. Prasad’s feat places her among an elite group of only three bowlers worldwide to achieve the same milestone in T20I cricket, joining Australia’s Michael Kasprowicz and the USA’s Akshatha Rao.

The 20-year-old Karnataka player, who led India to the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup title in 2025, was introduced into the attack by captain Smriti Mandhana in the 15th over of Zimbabwe’s innings, marking the beginning of what could be a standout career in international cricket.
